“Waiting for Dawn” Doesn’t this rooster look very wide awake and as though he can’t wait to wake everyone up at the crack of dawn?

The rooster is made out of white, fine art papers that are individually hand cut into many, many feathers. After meticulously cutting out the feathers, I painted them in watercolor and gouache. After the feathers were attached to the rooster’s body, his face, including the hand painted, paper eye was added to help give this rooster, his fun, wide-eyed expression.

The background and the straw he is sitting in is also made from cut and painted papers. It took many hours to complete this expressive rooster sitting on a bed of straw, waiting for dawn to arrive.

“Waiting for Dawn” is framed in a custom made wood shadowbox frame that measures 10.75”L x 9”W x 2.5”D. It will arrive ready to hang on the wall, or it can also sit on a shelf.
